FEATURED BUSINESS' UNDER Pwllheli
Accommodation in PwllheliA sheltered seaside resort on the south coast of the Lleyn peninsula, Pwllheli (pron. poolth-helley), has much to offer the visitor. The harbour, with its inner and outer sections, offers anchorage for yachts, as well as many smaller craft. The boating and sea fishing is excellent. Fresh-water fishing for salmon and trout can be had on licence on the river Erch, and elsewhere. There is an 18-hole golf course.
The beach, though the sand is not so fine as at some other resorts, runs westwards for a full 5 miles; and, as the tide never recedes far, the bathing is first-class. On the rough country around the town there is some good shooting to be had, especially during the winter season. Due to its southerly position, and the shelter afforded by the encircling high ground, Pwllheli has an admirable climate all the year round, and in the winter is as mild as Torquay, making it a popular place for health visitors and retired people. The town itself is quiet and attractive; the front is in two parts, the west end and the South Beach; they are joined by a promenade, flanked by up-to-date hotels and boarding houses.
