Aurum Natura Natural Wine launched in the UK
Possibly the healthiest white wine available, Aurum Natura, produced by SoLo, is to become available in the UK from the first week in April 2012. Solo, a relatively new brand, launched Navitas, their first red wine last year.
SoLo produces complete natural wines, packed full of natural anti oxidants and made without the use of any oenological products. Aurum Natura does have a harmless sprinkle of sulphites added at bottling which is needed to retain the wine’s natural acidity (this is less than 5% of the permitted level and is harmless even to people with the most severe sulphite allergies).
Other than this small intervention, there are no other added chemicals from the initial planting of the vineyards through to the winemaking and bottling process.
Natural wines are gaining in popularity, but natural white wine often lacks acidity because of the chemical relationship between acidity and sulphur. SoLo set out with the aim to produce a natural white wine with all the flavour and acidity of mainstream white wine. To achieve this they used sulphites but kept it to an absolute minimum.
Aurum Natura is a blend of Chardonnay, Marsanne and a touch of Voignier for a citrus lift. These were all fermented separately then blended to achieve the required style and taste then further aged in tank prior to bottling.
The wine is fruity, clean and fresh with a touch of acidity to give it the important crisp finish. The best thing about this natural wine is that it’s actually beneficial to your health, helping reduce the risks of cancer, dementia, stroke and heart disease.
