Common mistakes we all make when driving cars that can actually cause damage
Driving is a routine activity for most, where we don’t think a great deal about the way in which we are actually operating our vehicles. You should reconsider the way you are driving if you can relate to any of the following common mistakes to avoid damaging your vehicle.
Driving on low fuel/ empty fuel tank
We are all guilty of driving on an empty tank on occasion, but we should all try and avoid it. Running out of fuel alone can cause you the age old problem of breaking down, whilst there are also more serious issues that can occur. When your fuel tank is low, the fuel pump may begin sucking up dirt and thus leading you to fork out for replacements. Make sure you keep your fuel tank topped up!
Ignoring warning signs
This might be an obvious thing to consider. When your warning signs are on, you need to find out what the issue is and initiative a repair. Some people actually ignore these warnings, which will actually just make the inevitable repair cost higher as it gets worse!
Hostile driving
If you are an aggressive driver that is constantly speeding up and braking hard, you are causing unnecessary damage to your car. It will be increasing the rate at which your brakes are deteriorating, as well as creating unnecessary risk to both you and others safety. The most efficient drivers are the ones who keep the car moving for a long as possible, instead of stopping and starting. This means gentle braking and slowing down instead of abrupt braking!
Not slowing for speed bumps
Speed bumps are designed to slow traffic, so remember that next time you go over one to slow down. Not only is it unsafe to go over them fast, but can also damage your suspension, tyres, exhaust and more. You should watch out for potholes too, as they can cause the same type of damages.
Are you guilty of these bad habits? If so, try and change your driving behavior soon and you’ll allow your vehicle a longer life and a generally safer experience for you and your fellow drivers.
