Granite Worktops installed throughout many Cheshire homes
Granite Worktops in Cheshire and other parts of the UK have become increasingly popular in recent years with many homes opting for this quality kitchen surface due to its durability, style and longevity.
Since stone has been utilized for tabletops, Granite has always been the clear favorite due to its strength, endurance, resistant to scratches and stains, and its non-porous properties. The qualities of granite has been known for many years as granite has been used by stone masons as far back as Ancient Egypt, and most probably even before then.
Granite outlasts nearly any other material, whether natural or synthetic, regardless of the it is used. This is down the crystalline nature of the stone, as an igneous form of rock originally from the very crust of the earth, forming from cooled magma, whether beneath the surface of the Earth or as a result of volcanic flow. Granite’s only internal structure is its crystalline basis, giving the rock a high density and overall mass integrity that is almost completely resistant to external damage from utensils with sharp edges such as cutting tools like knives, for this reason granites are used as chopping boards and worktops.
Granite slabs are available in a wide variety of colour schemes, ranging from black and white to reds, yellows, greens, browns, greys and blues; this depends on the area of the world in which it is formed, as well as the actual rock structure. Some of these slabs contain more or less feldspar, or quartz.
Granite worktops are often polished in order to be pleasing to the eye, a common design characteristic for worktops and countertops in the kitchen. A great many homebuilders and interior designers prefer granite over other materials much as wood, or epoxy, as it is durable, affordable and one of the easiest options on the eye, besides perhaps pure quartz or marble, as well as the large range of colours being compatible with almost any scheme, however, some of these colours are rarer and consequently harder to find.
