The Marlborough region of New Zealand’s south island is famous for its incredible quality of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The modern New Zealand wine industry started in Marlborough in the 1970s, producing Sauvignon Blanc. This wine quickly helped New Zealand assert itself as a country that could produce outstanding quality wine.
Although there are many wine regions in New Zealand, the b wine region represents a massive 62% of the total vineyard coverage in the country. As well as Sauvignon Blanc, other highly sought after wines from Marlborough include Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The Marlborough region is by many critics considered to produce the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world; a pretty impressive title.
