Quality Spanish Wine
Spain is one of the biggest and best wine producers worldwide, assisted by its abundance of grape varieties, of which there are over 400 different ones throughout Spain. It follows France and Italy as the third biggest wine producer in the world. This is in part due to infertile soil that is found throughout the quality Spanish Wine regions. Wine regions throughout Spain include Rias Baixas (known for white wines, such as Cava), Jerez (for Sherry), Rioja (for Tempranillo) and many more. Although there are a huge number of grape varieties, wine is mainly produced from only 20 different grapes.
Spanish wine uses the term ‘Cava’ to describe wines made using the French Champaign making methods, in order to make sparkling white wines this is often made with the grape Xarel·lo. Spanish wine also has the trend of aging wine with oak to increase the flavour and make it a better quality.
